The tragic history of the last century taught us that the essential first step in stripping one’s opponents of their democratic rights is to dehumanize them.
That dehumanization process is in full swing today in Israel. A failed government and its deeply flawed leaders are preparing the psychological ground for the planned eviction of 6% of Israel’s Jewish population from the 120 communities they have created in Judea and Samaria. Their aim is to deliver those communities, emptied of their Jewish inhabitants, into the hands of the prophets and proponents of Israel’s elimination from the map of the Middle East. All in the name of a “peace process ” with no factual basis.
“Wild weeds, tumors with secondary growths,” was the language used by one minister of that failed government in describing some of the more militant young protestors against this outrageous plan. “They don’t think like us,” declared another minister. Making no distinction between young and old, militant and passive, he portrayed Judea and Samaria’s 300,000 citizens as “mystical, messianic, violent, satanic, irrational…What we need here,” he said, “is a blitz, to arrest a thousand and put them in jail…”
And on what charge would this government turn 6% of its people into refugees in their own land, dispossessed of their homes, their fortunes and their hopes? Apparently for the “crime” of having transformed a wasteland of barren hills and rock-strewn soil into some of the most beautiful, vibrant Jewish communities in the land of Israel.
In short, they are guilty of Zionism.
The only real “crime” before the jury is the grave assault being planned against that 2,000 year old dream. It must be prevented!
